Solutions Engineer – Auth0 (Okta)

Role Overview We are looking for Solutions Engineers to serve as technical experts in the customer’s digital transformation journey. You will build, deliver, and demo customized product solutions, partnering closely with sales teams and customers—from developers to C‑level executives—to uncover and solve real security challenges.
Responsibilities
Work with the sales team as the technical domain expert to help customers understand the value of Okta’s solutions.
Understand customer challenges and business issues, and provide product demonstrations aligned with customer needs.
Answer product feature and technical questions from customers, partners, and Okta colleagues.
Plan and deliver Proof Of Concepts for customers with complex use cases, collaborating with engineering teams as needed.
Provide feedback to product management about enhancements that address customer needs.
Share and learn best practices and reusable assets with other Solutions Engineers.
Stay current on competitive analysis and market differentiation.
Support marketing events including executive briefings, conferences, user groups, and trade shows.
Act as a subject‑matter expert with product solutions and competitive knowledge as required.
Qualifications
3‑5+ years of pre‑sales engineering experience.
Passion for serving customers, demonstrated in a customer‑facing role.
Ability to communicate complex technical ideas on the fly, using whiteboard.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Vercel, etc.) and deploying applications.
Hands‑on with standard security protocols (OAuth, OAuth2, SAML, LDAP).
Experience with REST APIs, API gateways, and SDKs.
Experience in web, mobile, or backend development and understanding core security concerns.
Exceptional communicator who can present to large, expert audiences.
Territory‑management skills, pipeline building, and execution with sales.
Typical 25% travel.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or similar (preferred).
Preferred / Additional Experience
Hands‑on experience with Generative AI or LLM technologies such as LangChain, GenKit, LlamaIndex, etc.
Experience integrating with microservices, data lakes, or customer data platforms.
Developed ReBAC or fine‑grain authorization models.
Diagramming user‑journey flows and complex architecture diagrams.
Location & Travel This role requires in‑person onboarding and travel to our San Francisco, CA HQ office during the first week of employment. After onboarding, the position is remote with roughly 25% travel.
Compensation OTE range for the San Francisco Bay area: $170,000 – $256,000 USD. For candidates located in California, Colorado, New York, and Washington, the annual OTE range is $152,000 – $228,000 USD. Base salary and incentive compensation are inclusive, and the company offers equity and a comprehensive benefits package.
