Director of Energy Delivery Construction , you’ll drive strategic initiatives, oversee multimillion‑dollar capital projects, and lead a high‑performing team committed to safety, innovation, and operational excellence. This is your opportunity to make a lasting impact—on our infrastructure, our communities, and the future of energy. This role can be based out of any of our operating centers within our service territories and requires approximately 25% travel.
What You Will Do
Perform all leadership duties, including hiring and rewarding talent, fostering an inclusive and safe workplace, partnering with employees to set clear goals and expectations, providing timely and specific feedback on performance, developing improvement plans to address performance gaps, addressing conflict with care and respect, identifying opportunities for growth and development, embracing a mindset of lifelong learning, ensuring employees are fit for duty, adhering to our Code of Conduct, and modeling Alliant Energy’s Core Values.
Develop and implement gas and energy operations and strategic plans. Lead planning, coordination and management of gas and electric distribution capital budget.
Direct the methodologies used to cost‑effectively manage all phases of large electric and gas construction projects, as scheduled and within budget.
Ensure contracts are effectively managed with vendors to ensure optimum pricing, risk transfer, and related contract terms. Maintain solid relationships with contractors, vendors and suppliers.
Oversee implementation of strategic improvement plans to all business processes within assigned organization to deliver desired vision and performance goals.
Provide the company’s strategic and long‑range plan to senior managers.
Utilize system performance metrics to ensure effective and efficient process standards and continuous improvement.
Deliver profit and loss results for assigned area.
Maintain a solid working relationship with union leadership while making strategic recommendations to increase productivity, quality and customer service levels.
Ensure employees comply with all environmental codes related to local, state or federal guidelines. Model strategic environmental stewardship.
Demonstrate leadership in safety and promote a safety‑conscious culture. Deploy processes and work practices that promote a safe working environment, investigate accidents, administer and monitor safety programs, perform assessments and communicate safety information.
Actively support emergency response efforts as needed.
Engage in other duties as needed to support Alliant Energy’s values and deliver on our purpose.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
Required Experience
10 years of related experience.
6 years progressively more responsible management experience.
