About the Position
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) offers a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs. This posting will be used to fill multiple Registered Nurse (RN) float position(s) in the Medical/Surgical Float Division.
Responsibilities
Deliver nursing care for patients within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adhere to institutional policies, procedures and standards.
Collect and document assessment data, develop a plan of care per standard, and implement care including medical orders and interdisciplinary approach.
Evaluate patient progress toward desired outcomes, provide effective patient/family education and discharge planning.
Administer medication per standard and act as resource/support to colleagues.
Delegate care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job description and individual level of education and training.
Contribute to a positive work environment and serve as a resource for student nurses and staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's, Associate's, Diploma RN, or Master's degree in Nursing.
Graduate of an accredited RN nursing program.
Current valid RN license.
Two (2) years of RN experience in a relevant field.
Flexible work schedule including weekends.
Excellent charge/leadership skills and basic computer skills.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Constant Physical Activity: see, hear, read, concentrate, think analytically.
Frequent Physical Activity: talk, touch, stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle or feel.
Occasional Physical Activity: sit, taste, smell, bend, crawl, crouch, kneel, stoop, or reach overhead.
Lift/Carry Weight: > 100 lbs.
Push/Pull Weight: > 100 lbs.
Environment: Inside medical facility; inside office environment.
Noise Level: Moderate.
Visual Requirements: near vision, far vision, color discrimination, depth perception, peripheral vision.
Hazards: biological, chemical, electrical, radiation, sharp, dust, objects/tools, potential for violence/physical altercations.
