Carrier Sales/Freight Broker The Carrier Sales/Freight Broker will be responsible for connecting shippers with carriers, managing customer relationships, and driving sales growth. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring timely and efficient transportation solutions.

Responsibilities

Drive daily and weekly load count, revenue and margin goals for MWL

Strategically match, negotiate, and book carriers with available freight

Negotiate rates with carriers to maximize profits and develop long term solutions

Develop current carrier base for consistent lane specific volumes

Verify all carriers go through the RMIS process to confirm they are qualified to haul for MWL

Establish and maintain carrier relationships for future capacity opportunities

Clarify load requirements with carriers, confirming drivers have proper information to pick-up/deliver

Meet departmental and personal profit margin goals

Maintain carrier satisfaction and provide high quality service and work ethic while representing MWL

Manage order entry and create orders for customers through systems, phone, and email as needed.

Follow customer SOPs during the booking and dispatching process

Ensure all shipments are tracked according to company policy. Quickly and proactively resolve problems that arise while load is in transit

Provide any required reporting to management

Exercise discretion and independent judgement with respect to handling difficult situations and provide timely escalation and/or feedback to direct supervisor regarding service failures, customer complaints, or any other matters requiring attention.

Maintain and Monitor service levels provided to MWL customers as required

Promote brand awareness within current/existing carrier partners

Follow Accessorial Approval Processes when requesting Accessorials

Perform other special projects and tasks as assigned (Based on business need)

Professional Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, logistics, supply chain or related field preferred. Must have minimum of 2 years demonstrated broker experience.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Excel and Word)

Working knowledge of McLeod preferred

Excellent written and verbal skills with emphasis on professional phone and email etiquette

Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build positive relationships at all levels of a business (internally and externally)

Superior organizational skills with high attention to detail

High customer service orientation

Team player with proven ability to excel in a team-based environment

Possess a sense of urgency, flexibility and assertiveness

Office Hours: In-office, 8:00am - 5:00pm. A one-hour lunch between 11:00am - 1:00pm as scheduled by department leadership to ensure ongoing coverage. As a 24/7/365 operation, must be available to work after hours, weekend and holiday hours as needed to meet work demands.

Reports to Director of Operations

Physical requirements Sedentary - Involves lifting articles weighing no more than 10 pounds at a time or occasionally lifting or carrying articles such as docket files, ledgers, or small tools; and despite involving sitting on a regular basis, may require walking or standing on an occasional basis.
