Scheduling and Assignment Details We are seeking a dedicated Orthopedic Surgeon to provide

one (1) week of continuous coverage per month , commencing in

December

on an ongoing basis. On-Site Hours (Monday-Friday):

8:00 AM

5:00 PM for scheduled operating time, clinic, and daily inpatient rounding. Call Requirement:

24/7 On-Call coverage is required

for the entire one-week assignment period.

Procedures and Responsibilities The Locums Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon will be responsible for providing expert, full-scope orthopedic trauma care. Key duties include initial assessment, stabilization, and definitive treatment of all orthopedic trauma patients, as well as management of general orthopedic emergencies.

Responsibilities include: Providing immediate in-house or rapid response to all orthopedic trauma activations in the Emergency Department. Performing the surgical and non-surgical management of complex fractures, including periarticular injuries, long bone fractures and extremities. Managing orthopedic emergencies such as septic joints, osteomyelitis, and compartment syndrome. Performing daily inpatient rounds and consultations across the hospital. Collaborating closely with the multi-disciplinary trauma team, including General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and Critical Care staff.

Required Qualifications Candidates must be a

Board Certified

Orthopedic Surgeon and possess all necessary credentials to practice immediately in the State of Iowa. While a Trauma Fellowship is preferred, it is not a mandatory requirement. Applicants must hold an

Active Iowa Medical License or IMLC (Interstate Medical Licensure Compact) ,

BLS

(Basic Life Support) and

ACLS

(Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications, and an

Active DEA

registration.
