Airport Ramp Supervisor
GAT is seeking dynamic individuals to join its team of aviation professionals.
Classification:
Full Time, Non-Exempt.
Job Summary The Ramp Supervisor will be leading, directing, and coordinating the efforts of ground, line, and cabin service personnel and the timely delivery of all services for airlines as contracted. The ramp supervisor will take accountability for safety, operation standards, policy implementation, client relations, and financial performance for the ramp operations.
Job Responsibilities
Establish shift assignments for both full-time and part-time employees
Monitor and ensure the safe and efficient operation of all airline ground support equipment
Report discrepancies that may exist on functional and mechanical ground support equipment
Coordinate between each assigned carrier to ensure that cargo and baggage services meet carrier needs and on-time schedule requirements
Ensure equipment safety and efficient operating status
Conferring with other supervisors and managers to coordinate activities with other departments
Determine manpower requirements; enforce disciplinary procedures fairly, timely, and consistently
Comply with attendance/tardiness standards
Perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints
Ensure necessary ground equipment is available in the ramp area and bag room for upcoming flights
Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous materials identification labels, aircraft loading manifest, and baggage routing tags
Follow and comply with all federal, state, municipal, airport authority, and carrier rules and regulations
Ensure crews are briefed before flights on positions and flight operations
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum 6 months of computer experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to navigate electronic devices (computers, fax machines, printers, timeclock, etc.)
Proven track record in supervising a business unit
Experience in operational planning and resource allocation
Knowledge of GSE maintenance issues
Understanding of commercial issues in aviation
High School diploma or GED
Minimum age of 18 years
Ability to process information in a timely manner
Valid Driver's License
Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English
Basic computer literacy
Previous ramp or airline experience
Successfully complete all training requirements and maintain certifications throughout employment
Clear FBI fingerprint background check
Physical Requirements
Fit to perform duties including standing, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods
Capable of repetitively lifting up to 70 pounds in confined spaces
Willing to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions with exposure to loud noises
Specific Working Hours
Flexible to work variable shifts, weekends, and holiday-specific shifts as needed
Willing to work extended hours on short notice during non-routine operations
