Software Engineer (Embedded / Linux / Cloud)
This is a
full-time hybrid position
for a
Software Engineer (Embedded / Linux / Cloud)
in a
small, high-impact international team
working on large-scale smart building solutions.
As a
Software Engineer , you will contribute to the
design, development, and maintenance of embedded IoT systems
and their
secure cloud connectivity , including
authentication, remote management, and data integration .
The role is based primarily in the
Frankfurt Rhine-Main Metropolitan Area, Germany (Sulzbach / Frankfurt) , with
flexibility for remote work .
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain
embedded Linux systems
powering smart building edge devices
Develop
secure communication layers
between embedded systems, cloud services, and APIs
Implement and manage remote access systems, and
authentication / SSO
Contribute to
cloud service integration
(e.g., AWS, Azure, or equivalent) for device management and analytics
Collaborate with a distributed engineers across embedded, cloud, and application domains
Contribute to architecture and lifecycle management of connected building devices
Example Qualifications
Solid
object-oriented software design
knowledge (asynchronous and event-driven patterns, publish–subscribe, etc.)
Strong knowledge of
Linux systems and internals
Proficiency in
C++ programming
(experience with Boost libraries is a plus)
Familiarity with
networking protocols (IPv4/IPv6, TLS)
and
messaging protocols (MQTT, HTTP, WebSockets)
Bachelor’s Degree in
Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science , or a related field
Collaborative team player with the ability to work across local and remote teams
Self-motivated and capable of working independently
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with
embedded software and firmware development
Familiarity with
cloud-based device management
and
API integration
Understanding of
authentication frameworks and secure remote access
Experience with
wireless technologies
(e.g., BLE, EnOcean, Thread, etc.)
Master’s Degree in a relevant technical field
Curiosity for new technologies and enthusiasm for innovation
