Software Engineer (Digital Thread) – Early Career
Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems is seeking a highly motivated full‑time Early‑Career Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain automation tools and extensibility solutions for IBM Jazz and a suite of digital engineering platforms (e.g., DOORS Next Generation, Engineering Test Management, Pure::Variants). The role will focus on accelerating product development workflows, improving data integrity, and enabling seamless integration across the toolchain.
The successful candidate will have experience or knowledge of software development using Python and JavaScript, REST API development, and enterprise engineering tools such as IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management Jazz. Familiarity with software design patterns, debugging, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes, and version control is required.
This position requires a DoD security clearance (SECRET level). The role is located at a facility that requires special access.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent STEM field
Minimum 2 years related experience
Experience with Python and/or JavaScript programming languages
Experience with Linux command‑line interface
Knowledge of software designs and principles
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the SECRET level
Desired Skills
Direct experience using and customizing IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM)/Jazz via its Open Services API
Experience with RESTful APIs, HTML5, JSON, and XML
Experience with requirements development, decomposition, and tracing using IBM DOORS or DOORS Next Generation
Basic understanding of integrations such as connecting OSLC adapters, workflow templates, and more
Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
Demonstrated knowledge of software life‑cycle development and software configuration management using Git (branching, merging, pull request workflow)
Hands‑on experience with Jenkins, GitLab, or similar pipelines
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a collaborative and team‑based environment
