Job Summary The Project Architect will guide projects from concept through construction, balancing creativity with technical precision. This highly creative role carries responsibility for design development, documentation, and coordination with consultants, while ensuring projects meet client goals, schedules, and budgets. The Project Architect serves as a key client‑facing leader, guiding team members and collaborating closely with Project Managers and the Principal‑in‑Charge to deliver well‑crafted, meaningful architecture.

Responsibilities Design & Documentation

Lead the development of design solutions from schematic design through construction documents and specifications.

Ensure all drawings, models, and specifications meet firm and client standards.

Conduct code reviews and integrate requirements into project documentation.

Project Management

Partner with the Project Manager to create project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.

Coordinate work among consultants, contractors, and project team members.

Monitor project progress, budgets, and quality; communicate status to the Project Manager.

Client & Team Engagement

Serve as a primary contact for clients, building long‑term relationships based on trust and collaboration.

Direct the work of architectural staff and provide mentorship to junior team members.

Represent Shelden Architecture in meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.

Construction Administration

Oversee construction administration, including site visits, RFIs, ASIs and submittal review, ensuring quality and alignment with the project’s design intent.

Maintain accurate project documentation throughout all phases.

Professional Growth

Develop areas of technical expertise that strengthen project delivery and contribute to the firm’s collective knowledge.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or related field.

Licensed Architect with 8+ years of professional experience.

Proficiency in Revit, Lumion, Enscape, and Adobe Creative Suite (SketchUp and Rhino a plus).

Strong technical knowledge of building systems, codes, and construction methods.

Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and client relationship skills.

Ability to balance multiple projects while leading production teams.

Interest in sustainability and pursuit of LEED accreditation encouraged.
