General Overview

A Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining infrastructure and tools that enable rapid software development and deployment. This role works closely with development, QA, and IT operations teams to automate processes, monitor systems, and improve CI/CD pipelines, ensuring system reliability, performance, and scalability while providing production support for customer-facing and supporting infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Core duties and responsibilities include the following:

Embodies Metrc’s Leadership Principles

Define and develop DevOps infrastructure projects

Design and implement secure automation solutions for each of the different environments relative to our SDLC (development, staging/UAT, production)

Experience with cloud security, such as managing users, roles, and privileges through IAM and integrating vulnerability assessment tools with CI/CD pipeline

Proficient in scripting/programming languages for automation – Python / Bash / PowerShell

Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines across multiple environments

Manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM

Excellent troubleshooter

Establish milestones for necessary contributions from departments and develop processes to facilitate their collaboration

Analyze current technology utilized within the company and develop steps and processes to improve and expand upon them

Participate in on-call rotations and incident response processes

May perform other additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

At least 5 years of working experience in a DevOps capacity

Bachelor’ degree in Computer Science or a relevant field. Equivalent working experience is acceptable.

Deep knowledge of CI/CD tools (TeamCity, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI)

Solid understanding of networking, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and security principles

Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools

Hands-on Cloud experience, Azure preferred

Expertise in Windows Server and Linux

Experience with compliance and security standards (SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001)
