What Warehouse Operations contributes to Cardinal Health

Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning. Warehouse Operations handles the receipt, storage, and shipment of product, which may include receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, and delivery. Also responsible for the efficient flow of products from vendor receipt to shipment to internal and external customers.

Job Summary The Supervisor, Warehouse Operations supervises a team of Outbound Associates and ensures that pick, pack, and ship operations are safe, efficient, and of high quality. With responsibility for a day or night shift, the Supervisor monitors efficiency and quality metrics, assigns work, provides coaching, and addresses a variety of operational issues. The Supervisor contributes to Cardinal Health’s customer service reputation by ensuring on-time, high-quality shipments, developing the Warehouse Operations talent pool, and enhancing operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Direct and manage a team of 30 warehouse associates to achieve timely distribution and receipt of products, and motivate employees to meet productivity and quality standards (including cycle times, lines per hour, shortages, damaged units, missed dispatches, and missed scans).

Monitor site productivity standards and hold associates accountable to daily, weekly, monthly metrics; provide timely feedback and initiate corrective actions when needed.

Adhere to budgetary guidelines and work to meet Distribution Center objectives and operational goals while maintaining quality and inventory standards.

Lead continuous improvement projects and initiatives (e.g., Gemba walks, Kaizen workshops, takt boards).

Perform daily scheduling of the workforce to ensure proper staffing for selecting, replenishing, restocking, locating, and shipping merchandise productively and cost-effectively.

Coordinate maintenance of equipment, guiding preventive maintenance and coordinating repairs.

Engage in employee development, including training, coaching, counseling, and performance appraisals.

Balance floor work with administrative duties and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, on a daily basis.

Interview and make hiring decisions for lead and associate level roles.

Maintain responsibility for the disciplinary process, including counseling and warnings, to ensure a productive warehouse environment.

Prepare ad hoc reports as necessary using Excel or other required programs.

Manage accurate timekeeping, attendance/PTO records and scheduling.

Ensure staff conduct work safely while enforcing Cardinal Health compliance with OSHA, DEA, FDA, and state/local authorities.

Assist with EHS audits, conduct Job Safety Observations (JSO), record and manage safety incidents, monitor safety behaviors, and provide feedback.

Assist with QRA audits and address non-conformances; ensure required QRA training and documentation are completed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred; Bachelor’s degree a plus

2-3 years related experience preferred

Prior experience with continuous improvement projects and initiatives

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Previous experience leading a team

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel (Pivot Tables and spreadsheets)

Experience working within ERPs (SAP or Manhattan) preferred
