Program Aide – Save The Children Head Start, Winchester, Indiana
Location:
Winchester, Indiana – contract position through Indianapolis Public Schools.
Compensation:
$15.00 per hour (base). Additional benefits include paid time off, health insurance, retirement plan, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide educational, relational, and social experiences for infants, toddlers, and preschool‑aged children.
Assist classroom staff with daily classroom activities and manage classroom setups.
Serve as a temporary substitute for Teachers or Assistant Teachers as needed.
Support bus routes, cafeteria, kitchen, and janitorial duties as required.
Maintain child safety and confidentiality in all interactions.
Follow Head Start Program Performance Standards and local childcare licensing regulations.
Participate in workshops, staff and parent meetings, and community outreach.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 18 years of age and high school diploma or G.E.D.
Certification under federal, state, or local Head Start or childcare regulations, or attainment as required.
Within 90 days obtain basic first aid and pediatric CPR certification.
Knowledge of working with infants, toddlers, and preschool‑aged children and basic child safety practices.
Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work sensitively with children, families, and staff.
Additional Qualifications:
Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 frequently, 5–10 constantly, and perform repetitive motions.
Clear pre‑employment background check and child abuse registry check.
Valid driver's license if required for vehicle operation.
Preference for individuals with Head Start or Early Head Start parenting experience.
