About the Role This role will serve as the leader of authority with expert level knowledge, focused on providing project management within the California offices, including team leadership, mentoring our people, advancing the quality of our work, integrating our range of design services, managing our processes, and delivering solid financial performance.

Here’s What You’ll Do

Lead, develop, and nurture a successful partnering relationship with our clients, leading to future opportunities for CannonDesign.

Develop and maintain positive client relations throughout the life of the project. Communicate design, construction, and other issues to clients in a clear and compelling way.

Establish shared expectations early in an engagement and provide clarity on how we will work together.

Ensure appropriate client and internal communication including written project documentation.

Play a lead role in key meetings and presentations.

Participate in business development activity and partner with marketing and office leadership to help grow top‑line.

Understand contractual obligations and work proactively with the client to obtain approvals for scope additions.

Lead project teams in conjunction with the client leadership to develop project goals and work plans, achieving quality, budget, schedule, innovation, and profitability objectives.

Facilitate the development, evolution, and management of the work plan, budget, and schedule. Preferred tools include MS Project and Deltek Project Planning.

Manage design and documentation processes during construction.

Maintain the project record, including capturing and documenting key decisions within the CannonDesign standard file structure.

Accountable for risk mitigation, compliance, and developing a risk management plan.

Collaborate effectively with all team members, generating a positive team environment through participation, empowerment, and accomplishment.

Implement CannonDesign Method using process expectations, best practices, reference standards, tools, templates, and technology to achieve competitive advantage.

Provide leadership of team activities, communicate client objectives, give constructive feedback, and share lessons learned.

Be a proactive resource in decision‑making and in developing technically sound and innovative planning and design solutions.

Monitor work to ensure best practice standards and procedures are implemented.

Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.

Accountable for the QA/QC process, monitoring technical quality, enforcing QA/QC standards, and actively participating in the QA/QC process.

Coordinate with the Project Architect and the Quality leader in planning the work.

Participate in contract negotiations with project leadership, the Business Practice Leader, and the Legal Team.

Act as a mentor to less experienced staff and train other project managers.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Here’s What You’ll Need

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or related field.

Minimum of 12 years related experience, including managing projects with construction budgets of $70M.

Experience with Health Care Accretion Integrations preferred.

Current licensure preferred; LEED certification preferred.

Capability to perform in a large or multiple projects and train project managers.

Strong client leadership and project team management capability for large or multiple projects.

Must possess strong business acumen.

Ability to perform as a leader of authority with expert level knowledge.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Strong technical knowledge, coordination skills, and the ability to build rapport with project team and client.

Familiarity with Revit, Microsoft Office, MS Project, Deltek Vision, Bluebeam, and other data management software.

Salary The salary range for this position is $143,400 to $179,200 annually.
