The Opportunity
Join our team as the Director of Finance, where you will collaborate closely with the VP of Finance to drive business planning, budgeting, and financial reporting for our division. This leadership role offers the chance to shape key business strategies, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to the continued success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage divisional business plans, budgets, quarterly forecasts, and monthly financial updates. Monitor accuracy in accounting and internal financial reporting, ensuring adherence to GAAP and company policies. Communicate significant accounting issues to the VP of Finance and centralized accounting center. Assist in overseeing sales contracts administration for the division. Proactively identify and address performance gaps compared to financial plans and forecasts. Collaborates on strategic planning and execution with leadership; drives cross-functional initiatives and reporting enhancements to support divisional goals. Identifies cost-saving and profit-enhancing opportunities to optimize long-term growth, profitability, and capital efficiency. Support land acquisition processes and ensuring the land pipeline supports high growth and market dominance with minimal risk to the division’s budget. Oversee land development budgets, working closely with relevant managers. Review and approve field purchase orders, check requests, payments, lot starts and recurring expenditures.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting (Master’s preferred). Current CPA license, or the ability and willingness to obtain licensure. 6+ years of financial management experience, including at least 4 years in CPA/public accounting. Experience managing finance or accounting functions in the homebuilding industry, preferably with publicly traded organizations. Strong technical and analytical skills with intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Effective verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex financial concepts clearly. Collaborative mindset with teamwork skills and openness to new ideas. Proven organizational and project management abilities. Experience in conflict and change management. Demonstrated business acumen and strategic leadership, with a focus on results.

Ability to stand or sit for extended periods Ability to move about work location Ability to drive/travel as needed Ability to walk up and down stairs Ability to observe details at close range and communicate information so others will understand Ability to transport and move up to 20 lbs and move as needed (for roles in Construction/Customer Service/IT/Land/Marketing/Sales/Studio) Periodically works in outdoor weather conditions (for roles in Construction/Customer Service/Land/Sales) Position is located on-site at the division office.
