General Purpose Responsible for all aspects of the store’s operations. Lead the entire operation of the store to ensure company standards and best practices are consistently met. Staff, train, and develop the leadership team to deliver the desired sales and profit results while maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. Recruit, train, and develop associates.

Essential Functions

General Operating Requirements

Lead all company best practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches.

Analyze store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall store performance.

Address any variance to company standards with an appropriate action plan.

Ensure proper scheduling of associates to meet business objectives.

Accept special assignments as directed by leadership.

Handle payroll administration including daily punch edits, associate scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and payroll reporting.

Organizational Development

Recruit, hire, train and develop assistant managers, area supervisors, and non‑exempt associates.

Reduce store turnover through selection, training, and motivation.

Address personnel and performance issues, including coaching and progressive discipline.

Ensure compliance with Ross personnel policies and procedures.

Manage associate relations issues, consulting with the district manager as needed.

Ensure compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations.

Expense Control

Lead all expenditures to stay within budget.

Control payroll hours to plan as the primary controllable expense.

Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment

Adhere to company safety policies and ensure the safety of associates and customers.

Ensure all associates understand and execute emergency operating procedures.

Customer Service

Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.

Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.

Execute customer service programs and merchandise presentation programs.

Coach retail associates in providing efficient and friendly service.

Personal and Store Brand

Lead all store associates in modeling a professional appearance.

Represent and support the company brand at all times.

Ensure a clean, neat, easy‑to‑shop environment.

Maintain housekeeping standards with maintenance personnel.

Merchandise Processing and In‑Store Marketing

Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to company standards.

Ensure merchandise is presented and organized according to company guidelines.

Manage merchandise processing to the sales floor within expected timelines.

Loss Prevention

Train associates on loss prevention programs to achieve store shortage goals.

Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers.

Maintain a strong customer service presence on the sales floor.

Lead the annual inventory process.

Monitor the mark‑out‑of‑stock policy to ensure proper administration.

Qualifications And Special Skills

Five or more years of store management experience in a retail environment.

High level of customer service.

Strong leadership, motivational, and communication skills.

Ability to train, coach, and develop associates.

Organizational and prioritization skills.

Fluency in English.

Judgment and discretion.

Availability to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements / ADA Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.

Stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of the working time.

Bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.

Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.

Operate janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.

Perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Supervisory Responsibilities Direct supervision of assistant store manager, area supervisors, and all retail associates.

Compensation and Benefits Base salary range: $53,074 – $82,928. Depends on experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location.
