Assurance Experienced Manager, Accounting Advisory & Outsourcing
Base pay range $120,000.00/yr - $145,000.00/yr Job Summary
The Assurance Experienced Manager, Accounting Advisory & Outsourcing manages the full-life cycle of all assigned finance and accounting outsource engagements. Responsibilities include proposal development, staff assignment and oversight, final work product review and overall portfolio financial performance. The role also includes client relationship management with regular client and staff interactions, reporting financial information and making financial management recommendations, timely billing and resolution of client issues. Client Service Delivery
Manages the full-life cycle of all assigned engagements by providing technical expertise in all areas within the finance and accounting function. Performs complete general ledger reconciliation including the entire balance sheet and applies accounting knowledge by properly recording transactions in a general ledger; creates accounting records such as bill payments, client invoices, payroll, and others; identifies and records adjustments; produces accurate financial statements, and provides financial analysis. Understands the technology packages clients are using to support their accounting/finance functions; can describe the major functions each system performs, and knows how the system performs those functions; explains the purpose and value of system functions that a client may not be using; identifies when a client is not using a technology package properly or efficiently; learns new technology quickly and applies these technologies to engagements. Facilitates effective discovery meetings with clients; uses open-ended questions to identify objectives and the financial information valued for management and decision making. Designs integrated solutions that respond to the specific situation; identifies services outside the department as needed and describes what these services achieve and how they operate; outlines the solution concisely and vets it internally with leaders and other stakeholders. Determines the cost of building a client solution; compares client benefit in dollar terms and proposes a fixed fee based on current scope for leadership review when there is sufficient margin. Works with Senior Managers to formulate recommendations to client leadership on technical accounting issues and financial management; educates clients on how their needs may evolve; helps identify opportunities and future business needs. Periodically reviews solutions with clients to ensure continued relevance and effectiveness. Manages conflicts by engaging senior leadership when needed. Supports the client through business changes and helps develop and execute change management plans; handles full-life cycle of engagements with technical management of the accounting function. Gathers information from the client to execute engagements and maintains a running list of required information; builds strong business relationships with clients and internal teams. Understands tax planning considerations for various business entities; analyzes tax-related forms and advises clients on potential implications; refers tax matters to Core Tax and Specialty Tax Services where appropriate. Business Development
Learns business development strategies and service offerings; ensures prospect and sales information is entered into CRM. Ability to recommend and design solutions for clients. Evaluates clients for acceptance and develops statements of work with support from leadership. Develops exposure to industry teams and resources; participates in industry groups and networking events. Identifies new opportunities with existing clients and communicates potential opportunities to leadership. Articulates Advisory service offerings and the firm’s value proposition to clients or prospects. Explains the value proposition and target market/client profile. Developing Others
Fosters a change-capable and accountable culture. Identifies staff development needs to improve analytics and forecasting capabilities. Ensures Senior Associates and Associates are trained on relevant software, processes and resources. Acts as a Career Advisor to Senior Associates and Associates. Evaluates performance and helps develop goals aligned with the firm’s objectives. Participates in recruiting and onboarding processes for associates and senior associates. Supports Associates and Senior Associates with knowledge of finance and accounting, technology, and tax planning as it relates to industry and business structure. Project Management
Creates work plans following project management best practices, including phases, tasks, time estimates, milestones, dependencies, and progress review. Bills engagements timely and effectively, contributing to forecasting and key metrics. Scopes new projects and constructs fee estimates/budgets that cover all relevant details and margins. Oversees client satisfaction with deliverables, staff, and engagement performance. Ensures timely billing in accordance with SOW and resolves billing issues with the team. Performs other duties as required. Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises day-to-day workload of Senior Associates and Associates on assigned engagements and reviews work products. Oversees overall client engagement and collaborates with BSC personnel as applicable, reviewing work and providing feedback. Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; or equivalent experience required MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred Experience
Seven (7) or more years of experience performing general accounting transactions and functions Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience preferred Experience with outsourced and/or delivery center operations preferred Consultative or business advisory experience preferred Licenses/Certifications
CPA certification preferred Software
Experience with industry-standard accounting software and BDODrive platform software such as QuickBooks Online, Microsoft NAV and Bill.com preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required Prior experience with accounting research tools preferred Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
