Responsibilities Responsibilities of the Medical Director:
The Medical Director is responsible for providing direct and indirect basic medical care to meet the physiological and emotional needs of the patients and ensuring quality care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.
Responsibilities may include and not be limited to:
Conducting rounds in the medical and infirmary units
Performing sick call visits and managing chronic care
Responding to and initiating care for medical emergenciesLeading efforts to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of healthcare services
Coordinating, leading and participating in educational and training activities
May supervise Staff Physicians and other medical staff
Ensuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards
Collaborating with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients' needs
Qualifications Qualifications for Medical Director:
Medical degree (MD or DO)
Valid license as a physician in the state where the facility is located Arizona
CPR certification
Possess a current DEA registration
Currently certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties
