As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Technology Rates eTrading, you are an integral part of an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. Your role involves promoting significant business impact through your expertise and contributions, applying deep technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to address a wide range of challenges across multiple technologies and applications. You will be responsible for building components that support the global macro FX eTrading business, collaborating with a team of 20 developers worldwide, and working closely with our trading partners. These components must be highly available, scalable, and operate with minimal latency, handling high volumes of real‑time data and requiring careful performance tuning. You will be accountable for the overall success of the systems, including their design, development, deployment, optimization, and day‑to‑day operation.

Job responsibilities

Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors

Design, develop, and maintain electronic trading components.

Use low-level programming techniques to produce highly optimized, low-latency trading software

Serve as a Second line support backing up the 1st line operate team

Develops secure and high‑quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others

Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes

Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus

Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle

Influences peers and project decision‑makers to consider the use and application of leading‑edge technologies

Adds to the team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience

Hands‑on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability

Advanced in one or more programming language(s) - Java

Will have a deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, system design, threading implications, and strategies for optimizing performance‑sensitive code.

Relevant Markets experience required.

Low latency middleware

Ability to work collaboratively in a global team on long‑term technical problems

Possess a great attention to detail

Ability to analyze and fix problems quickly

Capable of working independently as well as part of a team. Able to learn quickly and apply new skills effectively

Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

FX experience preferred

Scripting skills, python will be an advantage.
