Department Information

HISTORY COLORADO has a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion and cultural competency. We continuously seek to recruit individuals who will enhance this diversity and ultimately the effectiveness of our organization. We believe equity, diversity, and inclusion drive our success, and encourage candidates from all identities, backgrounds, and abilities to apply. We are committed to building inclusive, innovative service environments with AmeriCorps members who reflect our communities and serve them enthusiastically. In all aspects of the service process, we provide opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, medical condition related to pregnancy, creed, ancestry, national origin, marital status, genetic information, or military status in accordance with applicable law.

The History Colorado AmeriCorps Program endeavors to address equitable K‑12 educational outcomes, quality history educational programming, and the tools to preserve and share a more inclusive Colorado history. This initiative is part of History Colorado's strategic goals to invest in rural prosperity, strengthen education through history, and share the diverse stories of Colorado's past.

AmeriCorps members are dedicated national service participants who commit their time and skills through defined terms of service. The AmeriCorps member will serve as part of the Education Department at the museum, working directly under the supervision of the Education Coordinator. Their primary focus will be to support and deliver high‑impact educational programming to K‑12 students, with an emphasis on equitable access to culturally relevant history education. The member will play a key role in facilitating Hands‑on History programs, field trips, and other student‑focused educational experiences. As capacity allows, the member may also assist with community events, adult educational programming, and broader outreach initiatives.
