Marlborough Country Club, a private club that allows limited public play and a rich history dating back to 1922, is seeking an enthusiastic and service-driven 1st Assistant Golf Professional to join our team. Known for hosting premier state-level events and fostering a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere, MCC offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vibrant golf operation. The 1st Assistant Golf Professional will play a key role in delivering an exceptional golf experience for members, guests, and public players through tournament operations, golf instruction, merchandise management, and daily golf services. This is an ideal position for a motivated professional looking to gain hands-on experience in all facets of private club operations within a supportive and dynamic environment. Experience Required
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience
as an Assistant Golf Professional at a private or semi-private club; experience managing club tournaments and outside outings preferred. PGA Class A Membership or actively pursuing PGA membership
through the PGM program. Proven ability to
lead daily golf operations , including staff supervision, pace of play management, cart fleet oversight, and merchandise operations. Experience in
organizing and executing tournaments , including scoring, tee time management, shotgun formats, and on-course contests. Proficiency with
POS systems & tee sheet software Demonstrated commitment to delivering a
professional, member-focused service experience
in a fast-paced, hospitality-driven environment. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to engage and build relationships with a diverse membership and guest population. Knowledge of
current golf equipment, apparel, and merchandising trends
with experience managing retail inventory and vendor relationships. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including
weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak season and events . Essential Responsibilities
Assist the Head Golf Professional in the overall management of
daily golf operations , ensuring a high standard of member, guest, and public player service. Lead the coordination and execution of all
club tournaments, outings, and member events , including preparation of tee sheets, scorecards, cart signs, contest setups, scoring, and awards presentations. Oversee
outside operations staff , ensuring proper opening and closing procedures, pace of play management, cart fleet maintenance, and exceptional guest service standards. Support the management and merchandising of the golf shop, including
merchandise displays, sales, inventory control, special orders, and vendor relations . Act as the
primary point of contact for outing clients and tournament committees , conducting pre-event planning meetings and ensuring flawless event execution. Supervise daily staff to proactively manage pace of play and on-course services. Assist in
golf shop point-of-sale operations , including daily sales reporting, tee time management, and reconciling end-of-day reports. Foster strong relationships with members, guests, and public players by maintaining a visible, approachable, and service-first presence on the golf course and around the clubhouse. Support the
Head Golf Professional in staff scheduling, training, and ongoing performance management
for golf operations staff. Assist with
budget preparation, revenue tracking, and operational reporting
as assigned by the Head Golf Professional. Stay current on
industry trends, rules of golf, and PGA best practices , contributing ideas for continuous improvement of club operations. Benefits
