Recruiting and Professional Development Assistant
Varnum LLP seeks to hire an attorney to join the Litigation Practice Team in one of our southeast Michigan offices (Ann Arbor, Birmingham, or Novi).
Responsibilities
Participate in litigation matters involving construction law.
Draft and negotiate standard form contracts (e.g., AIA, Consensus Docs) and custom contracts covering payment terms, limitations of liability, warranties, termination, and ADR.
Handle all types of construction claims, including delays, inefficiencies, defects, warranties, design, liens, and bonds.
Engage in trials, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings with lead responsibilities; argue motions, take and defend depositions (including experts).
Manage files, supervise client contact, lead commercial cases, and balance multiple projects and deadlines.
Produce excellent research, writing, and client service documentation.
Qualifications
8 to 15 years of significant experience in construction law.
Material experience in drafting and negotiating standard form and custom contracts.
Extensive litigation experience with lead responsibilities.
Excellent research and writing abilities.
Business development experience with a portable book of business and growth potential.
Admission to the Michigan bar required.
Strong attention to detail, high responsiveness, and outstanding client service skills.
