Position Purpose:
As a vital part of the food supply chain, our drivers ensure that customer orders arrive on time and in excellent condition, while also being the face of our company and cultivating meaningful relationships with customers.
Primary Responsibilities:
Interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers to answer questions accurately and promptly. Collaborate as a team member within the department and the organization, performing various duties as needed to support the company. Conduct all mandatory safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip inspections) of the tractor/truck and trailer to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and company safety guidelines. Immediately report any safety concerns or required repairs. Adhere to all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies. Inspect the trailer to ensure freight is loaded and secured properly. Perform a count check of items and verify customer invoices for accuracy. Complete all necessary paperwork associated with freight clearly and accurately. Move the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as required. Deliver customer orders following a predetermined route schedule. Unload products, taking them to designated storage areas at customer locations. Conduct damage control checks, scan items, and communicate with supervisors regarding order removals as per company policy. Confirm delivery of items with customers and obtain necessary signatures. Collect payments (cash or checks) as needed and secure trailer doors before departure. Ensure the tractor, trailer, and freight are always secured and locked appropriately. Unload damaged goods and returns, completing necessary paperwork. Maintain daily records of hours of service in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations. Keep the tractor and loading dock area clean and organized, ensuring all trailers are clear of debris. At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and complete paperwork accurately. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: 12 months of commercial driving experience. High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent. Valid CDL A. Must meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable). Must be at least 21 years of age. Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years. Successful completion of a post-offer drug test and criminal background check. Pass a road test. Valid current DOT Health Card or eligibility to secure one. Ability to hand-lift and use equipment like two-wheelers, lift gates, etc., to handle product cases/freight weighing between 10-90 pounds.
