Senior Technical Animator
Reports to:
Animation Director
Location:

Position Overview We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Animator to join us in bringing projects to life. You will work on animation tools and technical best practices in various DCC’s and UE5, that will help both gameplay and cinematic animation teams produce top quality AAA content, while working on technical animation challenges to support the overall animation pipeline. You will set an example and ensure that animation work is technically sound, of high quality, and in line with the overall project visions both artistically and technically.
Areas of Responsibility
Take an active role in guiding the technical animation infrastructure of the team.
Set an example for interdepartmental communication.
Collaborate with departments related to animation, to propose and execute new workflows and technologies for improved character and animation creation processes.
Take an active role within the animation department, by sharing your voice and best practices to help guide the culture and success of the animation teams.
Work closely with gameplay and cinematic teams to identify blocking issues and develop milestones.
Document workflows using Confluence, and provide training regarding animation related tools and processes, as well as Unreal Engine 5.
Contribute to planning, execution, and integration of animations and animation systems.
Your Experience and Attributes
2+ years of technical animation experience at a senior level
Self‑Motivated and detail oriented
High level understanding of animation, engineering, and design dependencies, as well as excellent communication skills
Body and facial rigging expertise
Experience with one or more scripting/programming/GUI languages (Python, PySide/PyQt), C#/C++/Maya API
Fluent in Maya, Motion Builder, 3DS Max, and Unreal Engine 5.X animation related tools and processes
Experience investigating new techniques, implementing them, and training a team to use them. You are up to date with current animation technology and software. Such as motion matching/motion fields, facial capture and Control Rig
Ability to effectively translate creative ambition and onscreen feature requests into the achievable technical tasks required to realize them
Experience managing personal tasks using Jira or an equivalent organizational software
