The Emerging Middle Market segmentation targets $10MM-$50MM in company revenues. The ideal candidate will have a strong COI network, be established in the marketplace, and have a proven track record in sales performance. This individual will join a tight‑knit team of energetic collaborators experienced in sales and in maintaining relationships. Continued growth of the team provides a unique opportunity to join in building a highly valued segment within a stable and thriving bank.
Responsibilities
Develop new business by contacting prospects and clients, and by cross‑selling bank products and services that include credit, trust/investment, and cash management.
Participate and provide leadership in bank and community activities to increase bank's brand visibility and to enhance new business opportunities.
Apply deep expertise in bank products, processes, and systems and effectively troubleshoot to ensure a high‑quality client experience.
May coordinate closing with closing department, clients, and attorneys.
Serve as a daily escalation resource to ensure client expectations are met or exceeded.
Advise clients on loan products, options, rates, terms, and collateral requirements.
May advise business clients on cash management/deposits solutions.
Advise clients, where possible, on business management and other financial matters.
Develop and manage commercial banking relationships, plan for prospective clients; may include focused calling and pipeline management activities.
Act as the prime subject matter expert for internal/external stakeholders.
Provide oversight, monitoring, and reporting specific to assigned business group for regulatory remediation.
Analyze financial and related data to determine client needs for proper structuring of the bank's products and services.
Monitor and track performance, and address any issues.
Ensure proper documentation for loans and cash management services.
Review loan applications and cash management service agreements for completeness and accuracy and submit applications to appropriate departments for timely processing.
Evaluate and structure loan requests, determining appropriate documentation for approved loans.
Negotiate terms under which credit/cash management services will be extended, including costs, repayment method, and collateral requirements.
Ensure extension of credit/delivery of cash management services is in accordance with corporate policies, pricing guidelines, and portfolio considerations.
Follow up after closing to ensure all documents are completed and filed.
Act as daily sales contact for clients on sales‑related questions such as product information, pricing, implementation timeframes, and requirements.
Gather data to advance the sales process and complete all required documentation.
Assist team in pre‑sales activities such as pitch preparation, client research, and preparation of prospect and client files for further action.
Track implementation requests to keep the process on track with timelines.
Track internal reports and recommend improvements to sales support materials based on findings and feedback.
Compile pre‑call and post‑call information packages by accessing internal systems and bank personnel to validate client holdings, pricing, and volumes.
Provide research and data gathering to sales team to facilitate solutions to the client/prospect's business and needs.
Assist with sales and service administration and processing, ensuring client experience is seamless and opportunities are identified and met.
Maintain current client information on bank system/files to ensure client history is accurate and complete.
Ensure accurate billing to clients.
Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise‑wide focus.
Provide specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support.
Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
Work independently and regularly handle non‑routine situations.
Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and a post‑secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
If a Credit Qualifiable job, credit qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills according to the established qualification standards.
Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.
