The Staff Accountant will be an integral part of the finance team, responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and reconciling accounts. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing procedures, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Statement of Cash Flows.
Manage accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) processes.
Maintain the fixed asset ledger and depreciation schedules.
Assist with the preparation of tax filings (sales, property, income) and support external audit requests.
Analyze financial data and provide insights and reports to management as needed.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development and implementation of new procedures and internal controls.
Support the Accounting Manager and senior accounting staff with ad-hoc projects and tasks.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
1-3 years of relevant accounting experience.
Solid understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, etc.).
Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., RealPage, Quickbooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or actively pursuing CPA licensure.
Experience in real estate and corporate accounting.
Public accounting experience is a plus.
