Role Description The City of Rock Springs is seeking a detail‑oriented, motivated individual to assist its Chief Building Official with performing a full range of technical plan‑examining work involved in enforcing compliance with building codes, regulations, and ordinances. The right individual will have the ability to understand, interpret, and apply building‑related codes and ordinances enforced by the City, including the International Building, Fire, Existing Building, Fuel Gas, Plumbing, Mechanical Codes and National Electrical Code. The successful candidate will be responsible for reading and interpreting building plans, specifications, and building codes to ensure construction systems conform to City Code requirements; reviewing plans, specifications, and calculations of new construction, additions, and alterations to residential buildings and commercial projects to determine compliance with the provisions of building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and other applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations; and inspecting residential and commercial buildings during various stages of construction and remodeling to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations. Five years of increasingly responsible building inspection and plan‑reviewing experience is required. Must possess International Code Council Commercial Building Plans Examiner certification.
Salary and Benefits $33.15 - $44.75 hourly, depending on experience.
