Organization:

UFW Foundation – a federally accredited immigration legal service provider serving farm workers and immigrant communities.

Summary The Supervising Attorney will provide general oversight of team members (attorneys, service providers, legal assistants, fellows) with emphasis on workload monitoring, stakeholder correspondence, and quality of legal information flow. Position located in Northern Central Valley, Southern Central Valley, or Southern Central Coast. Reports to a Directing Attorney.

Responsibilities Direct Legal Services

Provide high‑quality affirmative immigration and removal defense services and representation before USCIS, EOIR, and California state courts.

Assess client eligibility for immigration relief such as naturalization, DACA renewal, employment authorization, family petitions, adjustment of status, SIJS, VAWA, U/T visas, TPS, asylum, and cancellation of removal.

Prepare and file timely applications, motions, briefs, and supporting documentation.

Analyze criminal dispositions and advise clients on immigration consequences.

Explain processes, options, and timelines to clients in clear, culturally‑competent manner.

Maintain accurate, detailed case data in the case management system.

Supervision & Quality Assurance

Supervise, mentor, and support attorneys, DOJ‑accredited representatives, fellows, legal assistants, and interns.

Oversee workflows, caseload distribution, and case quality to ensure compliance with immigration law and organizational policies.

Provide regular feedback, coaching, and training, including support for DOJ accreditation/renewal.

Participate in triage meetings and other supervisory check‑ins to manage screening and workload.

Community Engagement & Education

Represent UFW Foundation at workshops, group processing events, and legal education presentations.

Collaborate with community partners, educational institutions, and stakeholders to expand service delivery.

Identify trends in DHS practices and emerging community needs to inform advocacy and program strategies.

Program Development & Reporting

Support grant report preparation and submission.

Collaborate with Directing Attorneys to maximize program impact and case output.

Assist fundraising efforts by providing data, client stories, and legal insights.

Other Responsibilities

Travel regularly to court hearings, workshops, UFW service centers, and trainings.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Licensed attorney in good standing.

At least 2 years of supervisory experience.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, listening, and attitude skills.

Experience working with vulnerable populations and demonstrating cultural competence and cross‑cultural communication.

Ability to work independently and under supervision; flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, speed, precision, and adaptability.

Bi‑lingual proficiency in Spanish and English; excellent oral and written communication in both languages.

Hybrid work arrangement: onsite two to three times per week and remote rest of the week.

Preferred Qualifications

3‑5 years of immigration relief services experience.

Previous experience working with Latino communities.

Juris Doctor and at least three years of related experience.
