POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of Clinical Leadership, the OR RN is responsible for delivering patient care that promotes safety and well-being in the intraoperative areas. This includes assessing patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, cognitive, and pain needs, monitoring care progress, and maintaining open communication to improve performance and quality of care. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide intraoperative care in procedure and operating rooms. Transport patients to and from the operating/procedure room. Prepare patients for surgery, including disinfecting the surgical site and positioning. Ensure availability of supplies, equipment, and medications. Verify medication details and patient, procedure, site, and equipment accuracy. Conduct 'timeout' procedures as per site verification policy. Maintain sterile technique and monitor for breaches. Assist surgeons during procedures, including passing instruments and monitoring vital signs. Ensure the operating room is well-stocked and organized. Develop and implement care plans for surgical patients. Assist with surgical equipment maintenance and storage. Coordinate care with patients and healthcare professionals, including managing delays. Apply aseptic techniques to instruments and equipment before, during, and after surgery. Address patient questions and provide postoperative instructions. Maintain accurate documentation of nursing care. Clean and disinfect all surfaces and equipment between cases. Problem-solve effectively in stressful situations. Perform additional duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent Graduate of an accredited nursing program RN license in the appropriate state BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (per Center requirements)
