Clinical Opportunity At The University Of Iowa Health Care Downtown Campus

The University of Iowa Health Care Downtown Campus intends to hire for two positions at either the Imaging Technologist classification or Senior Imaging Technologist, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. The University of Iowa Health Care Downtown Campus Department of Radiology is seeking a Senior Imaging Technologist or an Imaging Technologist to work with physicians in the diagnosis of patients by performing special radiographic technical procedures. University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Downtown (located at 500 E. Market Street, Iowa City, IA) is a 194-bed hospital that became part of Iowa's only comprehensive academic health system on Jan. 31, 2024. Additional duties include: assisting physicians with imaging procedures, completing required continuing education as needed in order to maintain ARRT and Iowa Permit to Practice, interviewing patients and recording medical history relative to radiologic procedures, maintaining equipment in the work area and reporting faulty equipment, operating radiographic imaging equipment in the department and O.R.; practicing radiation safety and protection, preparing sterile trays for special procedures and assisting physician with special procedures and associated equipment, identifying, accessing, and preparing medication as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, preparing patients for invasive special procedures, and providing necessary clerical support. Percent of Time: 100% Schedule: 1st shift, rotating holidays and on call Pay Grade: 5 The department will be filling this position at one of two levels. The Imaging Technologist classification salary is 4, and the Senior Imaging Technologist classification salary is 5. Senior Imaging Technologist: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Imaging Technologist: Requires successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required. Certification Requirements (Senior Imaging Technologist and Imaging Technologist): Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required. Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required.
