The Department of Physics and Engineering Physics at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit, Catholic university, located in the Silicon Valley, seeks applicants for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in physics beginningSeptember 1, 2026.SCU is a welcoming and inclusive community of teaching scholars whose work is grounded in the universitys fundamental values. The Department of Physics and Engineering Physics offers distinct B.S. degrees in physics and engineering physics, and graduates about 10-15 majors each year. Our faculty pursue research in a broad range of areas, including condensed matter physics, AMO, quantum information, and biophysics. The Department of Physics and Engineering Physics is housed in the Sobrato Center for Discovery and Innovation (SCDI), a state-of-the-art facility designed to support innovative teaching and research.

We seek excellent and dynamic physicists capable of developing nationally-fundable research projects in experimental or computational physics. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field, as well as post-doctoral research experience. The successful candidates must demonstrate:

The ability to teach courses across the undergraduate physics curriculum utilizing practices thatpromote academic success for all students

A strong commitment to establishing and sustaining an externally-fundable research program that can actively involve undergraduates

A willingness to contribute in service commensurate to rank
