Position description

The Department of Professional and Continuing Education (Extension) at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part-time instructor assistants to teach on-site and online courses for our Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program for upcoming openings. We are seeking qualified applicants who possess current subject matter expertise and have a passion for teaching in the following programs and courses.

Emergency patient care

Basic human anatomy and physiology needed to perform a patient assessment

Recognition of a patient in cardiac arrest

CPR/AED For Healthcare Providers & Professional Rescuers

Identifying and managing OB-GYN emergencies

Triage and transportation of patients in major disasters

Instructor duties include but are not limited to:

Prepare and deliver course materials and design learning assessments.

Design interactive and motivational classroom activities to fully engage participants and to reinforce student learning.

Stay current within the subject, discipline or field of practice.

Communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students, and clearly outline/explain the grading policies for the course.

Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner.

Employ teaching methodologies that support the academic success of students with a variety of backgrounds, experiences and learning styles

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.

Basic qualifications

State of California EMT

National Registered EMT (NREMT)

Preferred qualifications Bachelor's degree or over 2 years experience in a related professional field.
