Project Overview
The
Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS)
is seeking an experienced
Senior Application Support Developer
to assist with the modernization of the
Mississippi Automated Child Welfare Information System (MACWIS) . This project supports the agencys efforts to transition from legacy technologies to a modern platform that enhances service delivery, data accuracy, and overall system performance.
Youll be maintaining and enhancing legacy
Natural
and
Visual Basic 6 (VB6)
applications while also contributing to new development in
.NET (C#, ASP.NET)
and supporting data migration to the modern
CCWIS
environment.
Responsibilities
Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot legacy systems in
Natural ,
VB6 , and
.NET
environments.
Perform source data analysis and cleanup scripting using
SQL
and
Natural
to improve data integrity.
Support data migration efforts and validation for the transition to the new CCWIS platform.
Participate in technical planning sessions, inter-agency meetings, and system design discussions.
Serve as a
Subject Matter Expert (SME)
on legacy systems and modernization processes.
Prepare technical documentation and support testing and deployment activities.
Required Skills & Experience
10+ years
with Natural Programming Language
10+ years
with Visual Basic 6
10+ years
with SQL
Experience with
.NET Framework (C#, ASP.NET)
Hands-on with
Git, TFS, SVN , or similar version control tools
Proven experience maintaining legacy systems and supporting production environments
Strong understanding of
data integration ,
migration , and
batch processing
Prior experience with
Child Welfare Information Systems (SACWIS, MACWIS, CCWIS)
Understanding of child welfare processes (case management, intake, service planning, licensing, reporting)
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with
ADABAS
databases
Familiarity with
child welfare modernization projects
Knowledge of
federal CCWIS compliance standards
and requirements
