Position Overview

Ultimate Staffing is actively seeking an experienced Area Safety Manager to join their client's team in Reno, Nevada. This role is vital for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) regulations. Under the direction of the Regional Safety Manager, the Area Safety Manager will oversee the development, implementation, and auditing of safety policies across various levels. This position involves direct interaction with field employees, company management, and customers, providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring to Site Safety personnel, and supporting the company's established network for the communication of HSE matters.

Responsibilities

Establish, manage, and monitor standards, processes, communications, training, and systems to ensure an injury-free environment. Coach and mentor employees and management in safe practices and regulations. Assist in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis and Site Safety Plans. Ensure the provision of first aid and welfare facilities and support. Conduct risk assessments and implement necessary measures based on assessments. Oversee the selection of safety-related equipment such as signs and personal protective equipment. Collaborate with organizations and authorities for audits and remedial actions. Develop strategies to manage exposure to hazardous substances and risks. Perform safety audits/inspections and report on health and safety practices. Review and distribute audit and incident reports. Train employees in areas such as Mobile Elevated Work Platforms, Fall Protection, and Hazard Communication. Ensure subcontractors and vendors comply with HSE expectations. Investigate serious incidents and provide technical expertise. Maintain close communication with project managers and team members. Develop procedures to eliminate hazards and implement lessons learned from past incidents. Promote a safety culture within all levels of the company.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Construction Safety. Must have CHST or OSHT certification Knowledge of safety regulations including Title 8, OSHA 1926. 30-hour OSHA instructor qualification and/or EM385 coursework preferred. Competencies in fall protection, excavation, and rigging. Bachelor's degree preferred. Professional safety accreditation preferred. Active membership in HSE professional associations required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel).

Work Hours

Monday through Friday, starting between 6:00 am and 7:00 am and ending between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm, with one hour for lunch. Eight hours per day is required, with occasional overtime as necessary.

Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary range of $125,000 to $135,000 annually.

Additional Details

The Area Safety Manager will occasionally travel (0-5% of the time) to regional branch offices and project/customer sites as required.
