About the Role

The Union Janitor plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment within a manufacturing facility. This position ensures that all workspaces, common areas, and restrooms meet high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, which directly supports operational efficiency and employee well-being. The janitor will work closely with union representatives and management to uphold workplace safety protocols and comply with union guidelines. By performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks, the janitor helps prevent workplace hazards and contributes to a positive and productive manufacturing environment. Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a unionized workplace.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
• Basic knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment operation and maintenance.
• Certification in hazardous materials handling or related safety training.
• Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal in manufacturing and office areas.
• Sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and other communal spaces to maintain health and safety standards.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel promptly.
• Collaborate with union representatives and management to ensure compliance with union agreements and workplace policies.

Shift times:
1st shift: 5:30 am – 2:00 pm
2nd shift: 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm
