Director, Government Relationship Manager BMO is the 8th largest bank in North America and the 4th largest commercial lender with growth ambitions in the U.S. Our purpose is to Boldly Grow the Good in business and life, supporting progress for a thriving economy, a sustainable future, and an inclusive society. This role is with the Institutional Markets/Government Banking team and can be based in the San Francisco Office or East Bank market. The position focuses on business development in addition to maintaining strong relationships within the existing portfolio.

Facilitates growth for the Bank through business development and management of key client relationships. Maintains an outstanding and continuous record of significant revenue generation from sales and syndications.

Acts as an escalation point for complex client issues, using strategic problem-solving to resolve conflicts and maintain strong client relationships.

Leads the structuring of high-value, complex deals and credit approvals, ensuring alignment with client needs.

Oversees credit approvals and coordinates pricing, acting as the primary client advocate to align with client needs and bank objectives.

Drives negotiations for high-value, complex transactions and credit approvals, structured to meet client needs.

Manages high-value client portfolios, driving cross-selling, retention, and profitability.

Implements cross-selling initiatives to drive client engagement and transition opportunities into revenue-generating sales.

Leads market coverage strategies to expand portfolios, identify opportunities, and align with business goals.

Represents the bank at industry forums and conferences to inform strategic decision-making with market insights.

Engages with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to address client needs and deliver holistic business solutions.

Delivers leadership-level reports on team performance, client satisfaction, market trends, and strategic initiatives.

Provides strategic advisory on loan products, options, rates, terms, and collateral requirements.

Builds and maintains strong long-term relationships with high-value and strategic clients, delivering strategic financial solutions and exceptional service.

Structures deals, secures credit approvals, negotiates high-value transactions, and identifies cross-selling opportunities.

Assesses market trends and client industry developments to inform solutions and optimize client satisfaction.

Collaborates with internal teams to define products, solutions, and strategies that fit client needs.

Identifies share-of-wallet opportunities and leverages analysis tools to grow a portfolio while evaluating client returns.

Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, internal controls, and compliance policies in relationship management.

Operates at an enterprise-wide level as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.

Applies expertise to address complex or non-routine problems and respond to shifting trends.

Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

10+ years of relevant experience in Relationship Management, Account Management or Portfolio Management in a corporate or similar banking environment with sales metrics is preferred.

Bachelor’s degree required; Business Administration, Finance or Accounting preferred. Related discipline or commensurate work experience considered.

If a Credit Qualifiable role, credit qualifications and associated knowledge per portfolio requirements.

Seasoned professional with a strong combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.

$122,400.00 - $228,000.00

Pay Type:

Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated. For commission roles, the salary listed represents the expected target for the first year in this position.
