Job type: Full-time; Location: San Diego, CA. This role is with a Southern CA-based commercial general contractor specializing in ground-up construction for retail, restaurants, QSR, fuel stations, and related sectors.
Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects (fuel stations, retail stores, restaurants).
Review blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documents to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
Conduct site visits and gather data to create accurate estimates.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to consolidate data for cost estimation.
Prepare and present cost estimates to clients, management, and stakeholders.
Identify and quantify potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of costs.
Update and maintain a database of standard costs and construction variables.
Participate in proposal presentations and contract negotiations.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years' experience in construction estimating, specifically in commercial construction.
Proven experience estimating projects related to gas stations/fuel stations, retail stores, and QSR restaurants.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes, and equipment.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with keen attention to detail.
Proficiency in relevant estimation and project management software.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to present complex information clearly.
Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong negotiation and decision-making skills.
