Associate - CRT - Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Fellow

The fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (FMIGS) at Emory University provides postgraduate obstetrician-gynecologists the opportunity to develop advanced surgical expertise working side-by-side with the department’s team of minimally invasive gynecologic surgeons. The division of Gynecologic Specialties performs a broad range of minimally invasive gynecologic surgeries, including laparoscopic, vaginal, hysteroscopic, and robotic procedures. Fellows have a junior faculty appointment in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics and are expected to serve the University in teaching, research, and clinical service appropriate to their professional training, capabilities, and career goals. The fellow’s primary clinical responsibility is to participate in all clinical activities performed by FMIGS core faculty. There are opportunities to participate in clinical and/or translational research projects within the Department. All fellows are required to participate in research. Responsibilities

Participate in all clinical activities performed by FMIGS core faculty. Supervise medical students, residents, and mid-level providers as needed when serving as an attending physician. Deliver excellent clinical care to patients with complex benign gynecologic conditions to support financial sustainability of clinical activities. Timely complete all required reports including faculty time records, dictation, encounter forms, and medical records documentation. Allocate more than 75% of total professional effort to clinical service and training in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, including management of complex cases; participate in a full range of outpatient clinical activities; share weekend and holiday call responsibilities. Receive clinical and surgical training and provide inpatient and outpatient services at Emory University Hospitals, Clinics, and other affiliated sites. Teaching, Scholarship, and Professional Development

Devote 20-25% of total professional effort to scholarly activities, including independent research projects, potential manuscript authorship, and participation in research studies, abstract presentations, professional blogs, and other scholarly activities. Devote 1-25% of total professional effort to teaching, including occasional lectures to residents and medical students, participation in teaching conferences and rounds, Grand Rounds, Morbidity and Mortality Conference, Division meetings, preceptorship of medical students, and participation in resident and fellow interviews. Reporting Structure and Work Location

The fellow will report directly to the Chair, Susan Modesitt, MD, and operate under the day-to-day supervision of the Fellowship Program Director, Marie Shockley, MD. Note: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; remote work is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to the employee.
