Safety, Health & Environmental Manager
in the
Seattle, WA
area to oversee occupational health and safety programs, analyze trends, and ensure compliance with regulations to safeguard projects in the region. Your role involves providing technical expertise, conducting safety orientations and reviewing safety procedures. Collaborate with industry experts and committed teams to promote a safe working environment. Become a part of a dynamic, fast-growing player in Heavy Construction. Shimmick is a national contractor with a strong reputation in the industry and is seeking a qualified individual to join our Northwest Division. Our work includes projects ranging from water treatment, conveyance, and storage to flood protection and major infrastructure, such as the Gerald Desmond Bridge project in Long Beach, CA. Responsibilities
Program Implementation & Compliance Under minimal supervision, manages, develops and implements SH&E programs. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local safety regulations (OSHA, USACE EM 385-1-1, etc.) and company policies. Support project leadership in implementing site-specific safety plans, activity hazard analyses, and risk mitigation strategies. Training & Certification Oversight Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and targeted training for employees and subcontractors. Maintain accurate records of safety training, certifications, and compliance activities. Field Safety Leadership Supervise Environmental Safety and Health Specialists assigned to the same project(s). Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and audits; document findings and ensure timely corrective actions. Partner with supervisors and craft to identify and control hazards related to excavation, cranes, rigging, confined space, electrical and other heavy civil activities. Incident Response & Investigation Serve as first responder for workplace incidents; provide immediate first aid/CPR as needed. Lead root cause analyses and develop corrective/preventive measures to prevent recurrence. Mentorship & Culture Building Coach craft personnel and foremen on hazard recognition and safe work practices. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement in safety performance. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environment, Environmental Sciences, or an applied science field or demonstrated equivalent of experience and education. This is a management level position with 8+ years of relevant experience required. Current OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Training. Current First Aid / CPR certification. Proven ability to interpret and apply OSHA regulations and industry best practices. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software. Preferred Qualifications CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification. OSHA 510 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry. OSHA 500 – Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction. Experience with accident trend analysis and leading targeted safety initiatives. Additional certifications such as: Trench & Excavation Competent Person. Fall Protection Competent Person. Rigging/Signal Person Qualification. Confined Space. HAZWOPER Trainer. Additional Information

$120,000 - $150,000
per year depending on experience and/or education.
