Department and Position
FIRE Department at Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, Virginia, invites applicants for a full-time tenured department chair at the rank of Full Professor to start in August 2026. Responsibilities
The Chair’s assigned workload will be 50% administrative, 20% research, 20% teaching, and 10% service. The chair provides leadership, promotes a climate for faculty and student success, plans and schedules courses, and manages the Department’s fiscal resources. Required Qualifications
Must possess a Ph.D. in a discipline related to the department’s programs. We are open to candidates from any of the department’s disciplines: finance, fintech, blockchain, corporate social responsibility, personal finance, financial economics, real estate, risk management and insurance. Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU. Preferred Qualifications
A demonstrated record or the potential for academic leadership. An established record of high-quality scholarly research. An established research record, potential for external funding, and potential for scholarship or teaching that complements or expands existing expertise in the department. Application Process
