Outreach Study Coordinator Research Nurse
West Walk Surgery are looking for an enthusiastic experienced research nurse to join our friendly, well organised, and supportive research team at our GP surgery for up to Full Time hours. This post is available from December, but we are happy to wait for the right candidate. We have recently been selected by the NIHR and Department of Health and Social Care to be a Primary Care Commercial Research Delivery Centre (PC-CRDC), which is due to go-live from 1st November. Heavily involved in commercial research for over 10 years, our busy clinical trials unit runs studies covering the whole scope of General Practice. This is a unique role in which you would be responsible for supporting GP and pharmacy sites across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire who are keen to increase their commercial research capabilities. About us
Our GP practice has 14,800 patients and our wider team includes 11 doctors, a Clinical Pharmacy team, Mental Health Nurse, Physios and Paramedics. We are proud to be a sought-after training practice with regular F2s and GP registrars, and an award-winning Core Undergraduate Teaching practice. We have a daily catch-up meeting with the whole clinical team. Located in Yate town centre, an expanding town 10 miles north of Bristol, convenient for all amenities, we are a based in a large purpose-built premises with X-ray department on site, and have a small branch surgery in nearby Coalpit Heath. Our current research team includes a Principal Investigator, 3 research nurses, lab technician and research administrator, and we are part of a much wider practice team at the surgery. Due to our successful appointment as a PC-CRDC, we are also recruiting an additional research nurse and doctor, second lab technician and administrator. You would be joining an expanding, supportive and enthusiastic team with lots of experience. Job responsibilities
Your role would include- Visiting multiple sites around the region, providing support for their research activities. Supporting these sites to identify patients to take part in studies through database searches and outreach activities. Providing research-related training to these teams in collaboration with our main research team. Working closely with the whole research team. Discussing with patients what their study involvement would mean for them. Assessing patient eligibility for study participation (which would be confirmed by the Principal Investigator). Undertaking study-related activities at our West Walk Surgery main research site, for example, venepuncture, ECGs, completing case report forms after study visits and liaising with study sponsor staff. Working closely with patients as they progress through a trial. Being involved in the application process for new trials and with the set-up procedures in preparation for a trial to begin. Ensuring full compliance with study protocols. Undertaking training as required for each study and keeping up to date with Good Clinical Practice. Contributing to improving the inclusivity of our research participant population. This would involve focussing on communities underrepresented in research, working with practices where there are groups of such patients, and participating in community group outreach activities to highlight the benefits of taking part in research. Qualifications
NMC Registered. Experience of working on a variety of research studies. Enthusiasm to share this experience and train teams in research skills. Excellent communication and team-working skills. Ability to work independently, with meticulous attention to detail. Competence in range of essential nursing skills such as venepuncture, ECG performing etc. Highly effective time management and organisational skills with ability to keep track of multiple studies and their requirements.
