CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT JOB POSTING: Provide professional assistance working with the integrated care needs of those individuals who are seeking primary care services. This position also provides professional customer service to patients and their parents/guardians. Day-to-day functions include clinical documentation, obtaining vital signs, immunization administration, collecting and running laboratory tests, preparing and sending out laboratory orders, conduct point of care testing, prescription refills, follow up on outside referrals, connecting patients via telehealth with the provider and providing patients and/or guardians with needed medical information. REQUIRED
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIMENTAL
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate from an accredited school, with at least an Associates Degree in Applied Science, and/or Medical Assistant Certification; special consideration given to those with experience working with substance abuse and/or mental health patients and their human services needs; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: Responsible for providing medical assistance to individuals served within the primary care clinic and outpatient treatment program. Verifies patient information by interviewing patients and/or parent/legal guardian to acquire medical history, health assessment, and purpose of visit to relay to provider. Prepares patient for examination by obtaining vital signs and symptoms and documenting in patient chart. Conducts point-of-care testing (i.e. strep/flu/COVID testing, urinalysis, fingerstick blood glucose and/or hemoglobin, etc). as ordered by the provider. Collects and prepares lab specimens as ordered by provider. Organizes, prioritizes, and monitors daily work activity to ensure that complete and accurate
registration/documentation
has been performed in a timely manner. Assists with securing parental or legal guardian consent for services received in the clinic. Provide medical education to patients and families concerning medications and other health issues as directed by provider. Coordinates outside referrals and patient appointments. Conducts and maintains inventory of clinical supplies Ensures standards of quality delivery of medical services and infection control. Assists with patient flow and monitors activity in and around the facility. Is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions and exposed to hazards such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation and may require the employee to work in close quarters. May be exposed to human body fluids and is subject to the OSHA requirements on blood borne pathogens. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions to perform routine tasks. Attention to detail, thorough in work. Ability to adhere to given work schedule. Ability to work independently. Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to develop and maintain professional boundaries and to interact effectively with patients, families and staff. Strong organization skills and ability to develop, organize and maintain schedules. Able to work with basic computer skills. Must be able to work proficiently in EHR. Ability to network and coordinate efforts between treatment, medical, and other support systems for the patients. Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, and hearing. Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently of constantly to lift objects. Must possess the visual acuity to perform extensive reading and determine the accuracy of work assigned.
