Deadwood Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau Employment Opportunity: Executive Director. The Deadwood Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau seeks an executive director to lead the organization. The executive director is the chief executive and officer and reports directly to the Deadwood Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. The primary purpose of this position is the general management and coordination of all organizational activities. The person will direct all planning aimed at deciding methods to be used in carrying out the Chamber’s objectives and lead and assist in the development and implementation of the Chamber’s policies and long-term objectives. The Deadwood Chamber & Visitors Bureau is a 501c(6) non-profit entity, and the organization oversees all Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau activities, including but not limited to day-to-day operations of the Chamber and Visitors Bureau and the Deadwood Welcome Centers. The position is the face of the Deadwood Chamber and requires extensive after-hours availability, weekend availability, and travel, all of which result in irregular hours of service. Executive Director Essential Job Functions

Responsible for all day-to-day operations of the organization(s) and ensures all staff is completing tasks and lead as necessary to assure completion of duties and responsibilities of all staff members. Executive Director will be responsible for hiring and firing of all employees. Secure operating funds from multiple sources as required to successfully fund all Chamber functions Ensure compliance with all Federal and State employment laws. Construct and execute annual budgets for all areas Work closely with the Board, Mayor, City Commission and the Historic Preservation Commission regarding the budget and management of allocated funds Responsible for accurate monthly financial reports stating the condition of the organization with necessary variance reports Responsible for approving a comprehensive marketing plan which has been discussed and approved by the Board of Directors Work closely with the Events Coordinator and Marketing Director to meet overall marketing and event production objectives Work with various retail, lodging, and professional associations in town to represent the best interests of all members and develop programs designed to meet membership needs and interests, and conduct necessary retention and new membership visits Promote the growth and participation of the membership, and be responsible for providing excellent oral and written communications within the community Encourage input and direction from the Chamber staff and Chamber members. Monitor all federal, state, regional, and special associations, which may benefit the City of Deadwood, as well as keep in communication with surrounding Chambers Attend city commission meetings and other city committee meetings Attend appropriate community functions Acts as a key representative and spokesperson for the Deadwood Area Chamber and Visitors Bureau Work with the Board of Directors in the development of long-term goals, and strategic planning to determine the future direction of the Deadwood Area Chamber and Visitors Bureau and its financial needs Qualifications and Experience

Minimum 4 years of college education, or equivalent job experience Minimum 5 years management experience in a tourism, non-profit, corporate environment, or similar experience Computer proficiency, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Financial management skills including working knowledge of budgets, cash flows, and financial statements Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills Working knowledge of marketing Experience in personnel management and supervision Effectively working with a Board of Directors Sales experience/membership sales, recruitment, and/or retention experience a plus Fundraising and event management experience Experience with Convention & Visitors Bureaus/Destination Marketing Organizations a plus Recruiting, motivating, supervising, and soliciting cooperation of volunteers Knowledge of the process to advocate for Chamber and business policy at all levels Organizational and time management skills required Ability to negotiate with several entities to accomplish tasks All Employees of the Chamber will

Assist with phone calls and in-person visitor/business inquiries. All duties as necessary during major events in Deadwood. Will represent the Chamber on committee(s) in town or region Help cleanup/organize Chamber storage areas, offices, property, and vehicles Work together as a team and help where needed Travel to conventions and trade shows as needed Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Prolonged periods of standing Working outdoors during events in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures Must be able to lift 45 pounds or more at times Must be able to travel as needed Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities Working hours and neutrality

This position requires the employee to work non-traditional hours, including: Be available for night/weekend work as applicable, including but not limited to 7+ weeknight Chamber after-hour mixers and 14 Chamber events. This position requires the employee to maintain political neutrality, unless otherwise directed by the Board of Directors. This includes refraining from political statements or affiliations on public platforms and personal social media profiles. Compensation and Application
