About Morris Brown College History Morris Brown College, founded in 1881 by the African Methodist Episcopal Church, is a private, coeducational liberal arts institution focusing on leadership, management, entrepreneurship, and technology. "The Resurgence: Reset and Ready 2024-2029" Strategic Plan Morris Brown College is charting a new course toward continued excellence, aligning with six new strategic priorities grounded in the College’s core values.

The Provost The Office of the Provost leads the academic mission of the College. The Provost will steward curriculum quality, faculty excellence, and student learning across every program, ensuring that teaching, scholarship, and assessment meet the highest standards.
Reporting Relationships & Responsibilities The Provost & Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs (PSVPAA) serves as Chief Academic Officer for the College and as second‑in‑command during the President’s absence. The PSVPAA ensures that academic excellence and student success remain the College’s foremost priorities. Responsibilities include:
The PSVPAA will lead leadership for the personnel and academic program, maintain faculty governance, and integrate Christian values into the curriculum.
The PSVPAA will oversee instructional programs, academic planning, curricula, and scheduling, including the online and distance learning platform.
The PSVPAA will guide accreditation through TRACS and compliance with the Georgia Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission (GNPEC) yearly renewal.
The PSVPAA will lead assessment, evaluation, and improvement of academic programs, faculty performance, and student retention plans.
The PSVPAA will collaborate on institutional effectiveness, assessment data collection, and research initiatives.
The PSVPAA will oversee the accreditation application and consult with the President on regulatory issues.
The PSVPAA will hold monthly faculty meetings and conduct faculty classroom observations each semester.
The PSVPAA will hire, lead, and develop faculty, ensuring receipt of accreditation‑required documentation.
The PSVPAA will monitor faculty credit hour production and approval of faculty course loads.
The PSVPAA will lead student retention efforts and work with retention teams to meet goals set by TRACS.
The PSVPAA will recruit and develop outstanding, diverse, and distinguished faculty members.
The PSVPAA will train faculty to use new Faculty Information Systems and facilitate scholarly capacity expansion.
The PSVPAA will strategically allocate resources to support the college’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
The PSVPAA will manage all academic departments, including General Studies, and maintain accreditation compliance.
The PSVPAA will revise and improve all academic policies, including the College Catalog and Faculty Handbook.
Other duties as assigned by the President.
Location: In‑person; full‑time 40 hours per week; occasional evenings and weekends during peak periods.
Minimum Qualifications
Terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., D.B.A., etc.) in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
Significant experience in academic administration, preferably at the level of department chair or higher.
Experience with accreditation agencies, including TRACS and SACSCOC.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
Budget management experience and financial acumen.
Ability to foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Commitment to supporting a diverse student body, including first‑generation, Pell‑eligible, and other underrepresented students.
Other Qualifications
Ability to build a collaborative, trusted working relationship with the College President.
Strong personnel management, supervisory, and consultative decision‑making skills.
Strategic thinker able to plan, organize, coordinate, and direct multiple projects simultaneously.
Outstanding leadership and team‑building skills, transparent and data‑driven decision maker.
Active listener who values alternative viewpoints.
Excellent oral and written communication, public relations skills.
Enthusiastic campus presence and engagement in learning community.
Preference for candidates with teaching, scholarly, research, and service credentials meriting appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure or significant academic practitioner.
Collaborative, transparent leadership style that builds trust among all members of the MBC community.
Responsibility for 70% student retention and effective resource allocation.
Compensation Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
