Overview Software Engineer (San Francisco hybrid)

Pomelo Care is a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, engineers and problem solvers who are passionate about improving care for moms and babies. We are transforming outcomes for pregnant people and babies with evidence-based pregnancy and newborn care at scale. Our technology-driven care platform enables us to engage patients early, conduct individualized risk assessments for poor pregnancy outcomes, and deliver coordinated, personalized virtual care throughout pregnancy, NICU stays, and the first postpartum year. We measure ourselves by reductions in preterm births, NICU admissions, c-sections and maternal mortality; we improve outcomes and reduce healthcare spend.

What You\'ll Do

Write clean, elegant code to ship new features and keep our platform humming

Collaborate on designing and implementing new systems that enable our clinical team to deliver personalized, data-driven care

Contribute to our new AI-powered tools, building agents that help our clinicians work more effectively and focus on the patient in front of them

Enhance our mobile experience, ensuring parents and families feel connected and supported throughout their journey

Work closely with product managers, designers and clinical staff to understand user needs and translate them into technical solutions

Who You Are

You’re an enthusiastic and collaborative engineer who enjoys solving meaningful problems. You have a knack for finding practical solutions and are motivated by seeing your work have a direct impact on users.

Have a strong foundation in computer science, typically from a bachelor\'s or master\'s degree, or equivalent professional experience

Have at least two years of experience building and shipping high-quality software using languages like Java, C#, Kotlin, Python, Go, etc.

Have experience developing applications with modern front-end frameworks like React or Vue.js

Have experience delivering and maintaining software systems in a production environment

Are keeping up with trends in LLM coding agents to multiply your engineering impact

Enjoy tackling complex problems and avoid unnecessary complexity

We\'ll Be Super Excited If You

Have prior experience in AI/ML, natural language processing or building agent-based systems

Have previously worked in a fast-paced, product-oriented environment

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our company’s size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes equity, benefits, and other opportunities at Pomelo Care. In accordance with New York City, Colorado, California, and other applicable laws, Pomelo Care is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $135,000 to $200,000. We expect most candidates to fall in the middle of the range.
