VPII Level Architect: High Executive Polish and Presence Required. New York City, NY. 12 Month Contract. Work Model: Hybrid, with expectation of 4 days/week onsite. Travel: Estimated 4–6 weeks/year to data centers (Chicago, Ashburn VA) and possibly other offices (NYC, Austin).
Responsibilities
Oversee migration from legacy data centers to new ones.
Develop and enforce application-level failover strategies (e.g., blue-green deployments).
Implement network segmentation using ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure).
Collaborate with architecture and development teams to define and apply migration patterns.
Serve as second line of defense for application reviews (mandatory for Tier 0/1 apps).
Present migration progress, risks, and strategies to executive leadership.
Ensure coordination across middleware, networking, and database teams.
Role is 75% hands-on, 25% strategic.
Not looking for a manager-type; must be able to log into VMware, scan machines, deploy, etc.
Should be comfortable presenting to C-suite or one level below.
Top Skills & Experience Required
Enterprise-level on-prem to on-prem data center migration experience (not cloud-focused).
Deep VMware expertise (ideally master-level or equivalent).
Strong networking knowledge, especially with ACI.
Site Replication Manager familiarity for disaster recovery planning.
Middleware experience, especially with Kafka and DataPower.
Database migration experience, including Oracle and specific systems.
Ability to assess latency impacts and design mitigation strategies.
Preferred
Financial services preferred.
Open to other regulated industries: defense, education, healthcare.

Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $100.00/hr.
