Power Engineer
to join their
Solutions Engineering and Development
group. This individual will help shape the technical backbone of renewable energy development and play a key role in improving how projects move from concept to construction. Responsibilities
Conduct detailed transmission and interconnection analyses using leading commercial software tools to identify optimal grid connection points. Execute and review transmission planning, load flow, and stability studies (using platforms such as PSSE, TARA, PSLF, or PSCAD). Evaluate the behavior of transmission systems under high levels of renewable generation and provide recommendations for system improvements. Develop well-supported modeling assumptions based on queue data, grid upgrades, and regional planning information. Assess technical and economic feasibility for generation and load projects, including upgrade cost forecasting. Partner with software engineers and product teams to scale power system analysis through data-driven and automated solutions. Serve as a technical authority in power systems and interconnection, helping define best practices and internal methodologies. Qualifications
5–10 years of relevant experience in power systems analysis, transmission planning, or interconnection engineering within a consulting, developer, ISO/RTO, or utility environment. Demonstrated expertise with one or more major ISO/RTO interconnection processes (PJM, MISO, ERCOT, CAISO, or WECC). Advanced proficiency in power flow and stability modeling using tools such as PSSE, TARA, PSLF, or PSCAD. Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with an ability to identify and correct flawed assumptions. Experience reviewing technical work and providing mentorship to junior engineers. Comfortable presenting technical findings directly to clients and external stakeholders. Working knowledge of scripting or workflow automation in Python, MATLAB, or similar environments. Preferred Experience
Prior experience working within or closely with an ISO/RTO. Participation in transmission policy or interconnection working groups. Familiarity with emerging technologies such as grid-enhancing devices, distributed energy resource integration, or non-wires alternatives. Experience with GIS or spatial data analytics related to grid infrastructure. Strong background in programming, data science, or automation. Compensation and Benefits
