Position:
Business Intelligence Analyst
at
Chicago White Sox . The Chicago White Sox Business Analytics Department supports the development and execution of long-term growth initiatives related to revenue and fan engagement. The team focuses on improving customer-facing revenue streams, growing fan engagement, and optimizing marketing effectiveness across channels. The department serves as consultants and advisors on strategic direction and initiatives, delivering timely data and insights to key decision makers across the business.
The Business Intelligence Analyst will play a vital role in evolving the ticket sales strategy in a dynamic marketplace. This includes owning reporting for various departments, assisting with pricing and inventory management, and handling ad hoc analytical projects. The role requires being an internal consultant, building trust across departments, and continuously learning to deliver valuable insights to the organization.
Responsibilities
Develop business intelligence tools with a focus on automation and delivering the right data to the right audience (departments include ticket sales, marketing, sponsorship, food & beverage, retail, and park operations). Collaborate with teammates in Business Strategy & Analytics and IT on data validation within the data warehouse and other reporting sources. Combine large and disparate data sources for ad hoc analysis. Translate raw data from ticketing and other sources into meaningful categorizations and reporting for the business. Use data to tell stories and help the organization learn more about fans to enhance the fan experience. Maintain, enhance, and expand data pipelines flowing into and out of the White Sox Data Warehouse in collaboration with stakeholders.
Ticket Pricing & Inventory Management
Assist with ticket inventory management for the full 81-game home schedule by developing internal models, tools, and processes to manage all ticketing inventory. Collaborate with the box office, ticket sales, and third-party partners to review tools and processes for inventory management and make recommendations. Leverage historical and market data to maximize results across the full 81-game home schedule. Identify inefficiencies and areas of pricing slippage; stay up to date on pricing trends and tools in sports and entertainment.
Qualifications / Characteristics
Role Bachelor’s degree with a track record of professional and personal achievement. Ability to identify problems, their sources, and potential solutions while maintaining day-to-day operations. Strong business acumen and application of data and insights to business strategy. Exceptional Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills. Proficiency in SQL (R or Python a plus) and familiarity with relational databases and data warehouses. Strong visual design skills and experience building and interpreting Tableau dashboards and reports (or equivalent visualization software). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong critical thinking and attention to detail. A strong desire to work for a high-profile, small business.
