Join our innovative team at the SinAI Assurance Lab as a Machine Learning Engineer I, where you will be instrumental in optimizing machine learning operations for healthcare. In this pivotal role, you will design, maintain, and enhance data infrastructure and model validation pipelines to ensure the AI systems deployed across the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) are meticulously validated for compliance, performance, and patient safety. You will collaborate with various teams, including AI product teams, clinical and technical stakeholders, DevOps engineers, and the AI Governance Committee, to create scalable data flows that support model validation, real-time monitoring, and simulation-based testing environments. General Data Engineering Develop and maintain robust ETL pipelines for diverse clinical data sourced from EHR, imaging, and text. Create systems to automate data preparation, lineage tracking, and ensure model input/output reproducibility. Build data infrastructure for benchmarking and stress-testing models in clinical simulation environments. Work with DevOps and cloud teams to ensure deployment pipelines meet rigorous compliance and performance standards. Establish and monitor model tracking infrastructure for evaluation metrics and drift detection. Contribute to the development of data management standards and documentation processes. AI Assurance & Governance Create and maintain pipelines that support both pre-deployment model validation and post-deployment monitoring. Collaborate with Data Scientists and Clinical Product Owners to ensure data integrity, reproducibility, and fairness in AI workflows. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, ethical guidelines, and institutional governance policies regarding sensitive health data. Develop dashboards and tools to provide observability throughout the ML lifecycle: from data and models to outcomes. Stakeholder Engagement Effectively communicate technical findings related to model and data integrity to governance teams, clinical stakeholders, and leadership. Maintain organized documentation of data workflows, platform architecture, and validation processes. Produce internal reports on data infrastructure resilience, validation system status, and operational risks. Stay current with industry best practices in data engineering and healthcare machine learning. Exhibit a flexible mindset ready to engage with diverse technologies and programming languages. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, healthcare providers, and IT professionals to develop data-driven solutions. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. A Master's degree in a quantitative discipline is preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or machine learning. Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential. Experience with at least one cloud computing platform (AWS, Azure, GCP). Intermediate knowledge of Machine Learning concepts. Familiarity with ML lifecycle management tools (e.g., Kubeflow, Airflow). Experience in deploying and operationalizing ML systems. Knowledge of monitoring tools for AI model tracking. Understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with version control systems (Git) and knowledge of big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark). Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in cross-functional teams. Compensation The salary range for this role is $109,000 - $163,695 annually, based on various factors including experience and educational background.
