Are you experienced in managing Windows and Linux environments with a passion for building and maintaining highly-available systems and services at massive scale? The Controls Fleet team is responsible for building and supporting some of Amazon's most important infrastructure services. As part of Amazon Web Services (AWS), we support the infrastructure that runs the world's premier e-commerce and cloud computing environments. We are seeking a passionate and motivated engineer to participate on a team of Windows and Linux Systems Engineers. The ideal candidate would be innovative, analytical and have great problem solving skills. You must be very comfortable and confident working on multiple platforms to solve complex problems at scale. You must have very strong knowledge of operating systems and network fundamentals. You understand TCP/IP and other common network protocols. You are proficient with at least one high-level scripting language (PowerShell, Python, Ruby). You should have a bias toward automation and a track record of creating automated solutions. You have experience operating distributed systems- diagnosing and resolving complex problems. You pay attention to detail and solve problems at their root. You will be working in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. You must be flexible and adapt well to a wide range of tasks and technologies. Minimal Travel Required. You are expected to be onsite at a minimum five days a week. At Amazon, it is expected that your technical knowledge demonstrates both depth and breadth. Leveraging the strengths of individual team members as peers and delegating tasks appropriately within the group for long term projects will all be critical tasks for this role. This position requires that the candidate selected be a US citizen and currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work. Key responsibilities

Technical Infrastructure: Deploy, manage, and support large-scale Windows and Linux environments, including virtualization platforms and networking components Automation & Development: Create and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, or Bash, focusing on scalable deployment processes and infrastructure management System Design: Architect and implement secure, scalable solutions while considering system interdependencies and limitations Problem Solving: Analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions through root cause analysis Documentation & Training: Create and maintain technical documentation, develop training materials, and support team knowledge sharing Collaboration: Work effectively with partner teams, provide technical consultation, and support cross-functional projects Security & Compliance: Identify security risks, develop mitigation plans, and participate in compliance efforts Operational Support: Available for 24/7 on-call rotation and up to 20% travel About the team

Basic Qualifications

Associate's degree, or Cloud+ or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner) 2+ years for Windows systems engineering with emphasis on scripting/coding Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above Preferred Qualifications
