What To Expect We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manufacturing Cost Accountant to join our team at Tesla in Austin, TX to support vehicle manufacturing and cost reporting. As a Senior Manufacturing Cost Accountant, you will play a critical role in monitoring and analyzing labor, overhead, and depreciation manufacturing costs, identifying areas for improvement, and providing financial insights to drive efficiency and profitability. Additionally, you will report financial results to senior manufacturing and finance leadership on a recurring basis.
What You'll Do
Conduct in-depth analysis of labor, overhead, and depreciation manufacturing costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend process improvements
Track and analyze actual manufacturing costs for various processes and products, reporting on variances and proposing corrective actions
Prepare and analyze cost reports, variance analyses, and financial statements related to manufacturing operations
Identify cost drivers, implement cost control measures, and propose strategies to enhance manufacturing efficiency
Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulations while supporting audits with documentation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand cost fluctuations and drive continuous improvement efforts
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, related field, or equivalent experience
CPA license or MBA preferred but not required
3+ years of experience as a cost accountant or in a similar manufacturing cost analysis role
Proficiency in financial analysis, cost modeling, and variance analysis
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and experience with ERP systems
Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation preferred
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and cost accounting principles
